preservation; and in 350 B.C., Propolis capacity to
heal wounds and stop the infections in open cuts was
already known in the medical field. In the 19th century,
Propolis' healing properties were used in victims of
the war. Nowadays, Propolis' healing powers are confirmed
after tests in Europe and Japan.
COMPOSITION OF PROPOLIS
Propolis' composition is not constant. It variants according
to the kind of pollen and resin used by the bees. But
there are some substances that are relatively constant,
such as; resins waxes and fatty acids, essential oils,
pollen and other organics and minerals such as iron,
zinc, steroids, benzoic acid, vitamins and sugars. Vitamins
include small amounds of A, B1, B2, B6, C and E. Propolis
is also very rich in natural bioflavonoids (found in
the resins), therefore it also works to maximize the
effects Vitamin C.
